a HAPPY how to: makes a perfect sundae

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE-CREAM!!”

That perfect dessert.

You know… that thing that’s wonderfully cold on the inside when it’s agonizingly hot outside.

There’s nothing better than a heaping pile of ice-cream, topped with the most scrumptious home-made chocolate fudge.

You will need…

1.    Hot Fudge Sauce
Below are the ingredients and steps for a homemade sauce, for a faster way, use microwavable store bought fudge… Be sure to follow the instructions on the package.

Evaporated Milk (2/3 can)
Light Corn Syrup (1/3 cup)
Butter (1/3 cup)
Unsweetened cocoa (1/2 cup)
White Sugar (3/4 cup)
Vanilla (1 teaspoon)

Step 1:  In a sauce pan combine the evaporated milk, sugar, cocoa and corn syrup. Mix well.
Step 2:  Over a medium heat stir until mixture comes to a rolling boil. Boil until it thickens, about 5 minutes. If you want it thicker, boil a few minutes longer but do not burn it! Stir constantly.
Step 3:  Remove pan from heat and add vanilla and butter until well blended and melted. Let cool.

2.    Maraschino Cherries
You could also use cherries from the produce section…for a more homemade taste, use freshly picked cherries!
3.    Whipped Cream
4.    Vanilla Ice-cream
Any other flavor will work, but you can’t go wrong with this one!  (If you do use another flavor – try mixing them!)
5.    Nuts
I typically use peanuts, but any type will work.  To bring out the flavor – try toasting them!

Step 1:  Before doing anything, if you’ve decided to make your own fudge, do that first.  If you got some from the store, heat that up…remember to follow the instructions on the package.
Step 2:  Put 2 or 3 scoops of ice-cream in a bowl.  (Of course you could put more or less…depending on your craving.)
Step 3:  Pour hot fudge over the ice-cream.
Step 4:  Top with whipped cream, cherries, and nuts!

Creating the perfect ice-cream sundae is never hard.  It’s about using your creativity and what’s at hand.  What’s so perfect about an ice-cream sundae to begin with, is you can use ANY thing you want.  Of course, the most important ingredient is the ice-cream itself.

Try using something different each time.  Explore your taste buds!  For a healthier treat try this:

1 scoop of vanilla ice-cream
Freshly cut strawberries (as many as you want)
Honey

It’s a combination your sure to come back to!  Enjoy!
